Ah, yes. The smell of Autumn leaves, the crying of children going back to school and congress and the senate getting back to doing nothing after taking a month off. God we love politics. Not many other jobs can you can pretend to work for a month or two, take six or so weeks off so you can go back home and have your supporters wine and dine you and give you money, just so you can go back to Washington and bitch and complain. What a country!
It sure would be nice if the rest of the country could do the same. Pretend to work – argue with everyone who is not on your side – bitch some more – sit in meetings and get nothing accomplished – bitch some more – and then take a vacation because you’ve done so much work. We once thought every politician should volunteer and not get paid – not a good idea. If that were the case, every rich, arrogant and eccentric billionaire would be running the country. Hold on! Some of them already do. So here is the ruling… if you have enough money to run for any political office be it Governor, Senator, Representative, Mayor then you should be disqualified. What do you need to be in politics for anyway? Is your ego not big enough? Has your head swelled with your bank account?
There’s a real good chance that within the next few months absolutely nothing will get accomplished in government. Republicans are fighting with Democrats and Tea Party Totaler’s are fighting with everyone. Obama’s approval rating keeps failing, the politicians are fighting for key seats in both the house and the senate and we all know that is the priority – not jobs, not unemployment, not immigration, not national security… we have better things to do.
