Just to prove again how defiant the Republicans can be in an election year and against a Democratic Negro (say what you want, but prejudice is part of it) in the White House, the U.S. Senate blocked a measure to demand full disclosure of contribution funds made to SuperPacs and all ‘charitable’ contributions that are made to a campaign. This show of solidarity backs the Mitt Romney refusal to provide more than 2 years of tax returns to the American people because “John McCain didn’t – John Kerry didn’t” – bullshit! If you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to hide. It seems that the republicans have decided that even they don’t want the American people to know just who is backing their vote in congress. We all know that lobbyists have had their hand in the cookie jar for years, sliding envelopes of unmarked bills into the coffers of elections since the dawn of American civilization, but since it was determined that semi-disclosure could be hidden through third party ‘shell’ corporations, all bets are off – or on, depending on how you look at it.
Look, it’s not that hard. The DISCLOSE Act was only for donors over $10,000.00 – so let’s ask a question here… How much money do you have to be able to donate 10k to a politician? We’re guessing here but your take home might be over 120k a year, but we’re guessing it’s much, much more. So we’ll ask another question… how many people really love a presidential candidate enough to donate at least 10k? Don’t get us wrong, we love both candidates (cough, choke, spit, laugh). We’ve often wondered who in the right mind (or perverse mental state) would even want to be President of the United States of America? Leader of the Free World comes with heavy burden and responsibility and a few perks, but the ego and need for power and greed must be the driving factor. Rarely do people do good for selfless reasons – in fact, may be never. That isn’t to say that someone might actually want to change the world and have good intentions, but with the temptation of corruption and possibility for being converted to the ‘dark side’, you would think that voters of the United States might want some truth in advertising and the truth about the candidate they support. That doesn’t seem to be the case.
It’s not the first time we’ve seen it and it probably won’t be the last. The throat ripping, mud flinging, ass clenching rhetoric that has gone beyond the typical wordplay to all out assault on the opposition may get even worse when the recent month long vacation culminates in Washington DC and the Presidential address next week. Granted, it was just the outburst of “LIES” that brought down the State of the Union address a few years ago… it might be even worse this time. John Boehner‘s politically tip-toed letter requesting the president change the date of his requested speak not only sets the stage for pushing the edge of courtesy and decency but yet again sets the stage for the next 3 month fight over who thinks they are right. When the Majority Leader kicks the balls of the President and the President caves in, that’s a victory, but when one side pushes too far it is partisan divide.
What it comes down to is who has the bigger dick… oh, we mean stick (… sorry Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin). Who can beat the opponent into a pulp and leave them bloody before the eyes of the American People. Forget who is running for President and forget who holds political office now or who won in the last election, it’s all about punishing the American People and forcing those who don’t vote or don’t agree with the populous to cower in fear. We all know that those who have the money make the rules and those who are the most popular always win (just remember back to high school). If you can’t win the popularity contest in your district or state – it doesn’t matter how good, pure, righteous, morally upstanding or perfect you are – you lose. Are we ranting? Sure we are! It has worked the same for generations of political incompetence and ignorance.
On this National Holiday Labor Day Weekend, we hope every politician (no matter which side you have shoved up your ass) can enjoy a peaceful and relaxing schedule of collecting donations before they have to go back to Washington DC to lick the balls of whomever they have decided to worship. Get off your high-horses and start catering to the mass and not your own cash shoveling donators! If you REALLY want to make a difference then learn form the great leaders of the past (and we don’t mean the dictators of the past) and learn to walk both sides of the fence and hold true the greatness of the people above all else. Only then can you truly gain respect and the greatness that should be acclaimed to those who have been selected by the people, for the people.
It sounds like a good gig to us! The best of free healthcare, lots of vacation time, a generous salary and perks out the wazoo! Just become a politician. Sure, you might have to lie a little and you might have to kiss some babies and interns (on the cheek) and you might even have to walk through a stinking farm and tell the hillbillies you ‘understand’ their point of view while you shoot at farm raised turkeys – but it’s worth it. You get a group of devoted followers, subsidies and perks that you don’t have to declare. People want to take you out to dinner and show you off to their friends and you can live like a rockstar without the drugs and music (drinking heavily is acceptable – just don’t throw up on the constituents). Ah… the American Dream.
So now the politicians are taking a well deserved break after months of waiting to vote on the debt ceiling debate, bickering over the morning news programs and filth-slinging during the afternoon cable slander debates. It doesn’t matter that the FAA has shut down small airports over $64 million dollar a year budget renewal that costs the taxpayers five times that in a week for NOT doing it – It doesn’t matter that 78,000 workers lost their jobs in one of the worst economic downturns in recent history – It doesn’t matter that the world leaders are blaming the United States for an unnecessary and extended political debate that could lead to the collapse of world markets – It doesn’t matter… they need a vacation.
In the mean time, those that are still working are working harder and for less money than ever before and those that are not working can’t even get unemployment anymore. It doesn’t matter – the politicians need a vacation so they can go home – suck up the the locals and attend lavish parties to collect more money for their re-election campaigns form the wealthy they just helped make even wealthier through the debt debate. Wait a minute… who are they working for? Who pays their salary? Who gives them the prividge of representing us? That’s right – we do. WE DID… and we seem to be content enough to do nothing about it. Let’s see who wins in the next election and we’re not talking about the presidency…
Who’s go the biggest balls? The American people! That’s who. It seems that the pussy whipped politicians can’t agree on what cup of coffee they really would like in the morning and they are even more confused about who is going to pay for it. Call them Tea Party enthusiasts, Republican Bureaucrats, or Democratic Pushovers – nobody is budging and nobody can seem to come to enough terms with the opposition to cave in. We’ve offered suggestions, we said that the damage is already done and every politician in Washington D.C. and beyond is afraid of losing their tax payer paid pension and perks from lobbyists lining their pockets. Come on! WE THE PEOPLE know what is going on…
It seems to be that the only one with the scrunch-sack hiked up enough to do something is Barack Obama – groveling before the American people insisting that it is out of his hands and that the people elected to do the job should do their job. John Boehner is getting his willy in a ringer because the budget that was his baby couldn’t do what the rest of the right wing republicans wanted. The rest of them (Democrats included) don’t have an answer that can quiet the masses and fix the problem that took less than 10 years, 3 wars and an overinflated economy to push America over the edge.
So what do we do? Listen to the same politicians that got us into this mess? Take matters into our own hands and file bankruptcy before the bill collectors start calling at 3 AM threatening to break legs. Maybe we put it in the hands of the divided Supreme Court to decide what we should do. Maybe we should just sneak off to Mexico and buy a small shanty on the beach. Whatever it is, we have already made enough problems for the world to see how dysfunctional we really are. The skeletons are out of the closet now and unless you live in a cave (We’ve heard even some of those have satellite) you probably don’t know how this could impact you or why it should.
It’s like getting spanked for drinking strait out of the milk jug. You knew it was wrong because other people drank out of it too, but you were just concerned about you and no one else. Good for you. Bend over and take it! Or better yet, bend over because someone else is going to give it to you good!
