The Government within the Government: Super Gangs

We thought the ‘Gang of Six” was an interesting idea. A small group of politicians from both sides (equal in number and ideals) get into a room behind closed doors and beat each other up until one gives up or caves in. Now it seems in order to save the Unites States economy, only a select group of elected officials will again beat the pulp out of each other in order to get the numbers to where they think they should be. We’ve all known that deals are made behind closed doors and secret meetings reach decisions that may or may not have the best interest of the people at heart, but it just keeps getting better. The new “super senate” based on negotiations from the debt ceiling agreement ads more secrecy to the politics who claimed to be more open and transparent.
So much for transparency and open government. Even with the recent debt ceiling debate, you didn’t find the negotiations on C-SPAN or covered like the Casey Anthony murder trial. It seems the American people are more outraged by the verdict of the “new trial of the century” than by what the government does with their lives. The outrage of the trial verdict and the trial got more live coverage and headline news than the month and a half or stalling form the Tea Party Republicans and the Democrat whining. So you’re outraged the a mother and her parents may have gotten away with murder… so what? Did that change your life? It may have changed your viewpoint on the court system but it probably didn’t change your view of politics.
If you want true transparency, then let the American People get the truth. No more behind closed door deals from politicians. No more whispering with lobbyists and padded envelopes slipped into campaign contribution boxes without disclosure. But it gets even better with the “Super Pack” and now the “Super Congress” who can wield absolute power of the future of the United States. Hey, but that’s what we elected (or some people did) these people to do. As a majority winning politician, it means you got the most votes – NOT ALL OF THEM! If the Republicans, Democrats, Tea Party Extremists, Green Party Tree Hugger’s or Libertarian Conservatives all got a vote – nobody would win. Everybody wants to argue for their own agenda. Make a list because no one is keeping track of who’s on it.

Oath to America – WTF Are You Thinking?

So everyone has one… a promise, a pledge a guarantee…. No New Taxes, No Big Lobbyists, No Lies and Deceit! Bull! It doesn’t matter who you are if you are in the world of politics, someone has their hand in your pants and is jerking you off – and you’re lying about it. Republicans want smaller government, Democrats want higher taxes and Tea Party radicals want to bring down the fascist and socialist regime.
WE HAVE A SOLUTION!
- ANY politician ANYWHERE cannot accept financial contributions from ANY person, party or group.
- They Cannot be endorsed by any group, agency or entity and they must volunteer for the position.
- They get paid NOTHING and get elected for a term of 1 to 4 years – live in public housing, take public transportation and eat at government run cafeterias and from government programs.
- Every elected government politician get access to base government healthcare (the same as welfare recipients) and can live off food stamps.
- All members of the House of Representatives not only have to work in the same building but they have to live in the same government housing development; same for the Senators. This goes from state governments to the federal electorates.
- ANYONE caught accepting a bribe, contributions or favors is thrown in jail awaiting a trial at the resources of traditional government processes.
- No bill, amendment or proposal for legislation cannot be associated with, from the state of, or with any familial status of any public official.
- No retirement or additional medical resources will be extended beyond the term of the public service. NONE.
- ANYONE caught in ANY impropriety, misconduct or unethical conduct not a violation of law must pay restitution for LIFE to the federal government in the form of PUBLIC SERVICE based on the worst economic environment in the state they represent.
You think we’re joking? We’re serious! Who in their right mind would want to do this? We think you’d either have to be CRAZY or TRULY dedicated to the betterment of the United States without personal gain. If this doesn’t eliminate the possibility of corruption, extravagance, self-centered egotism and favoritism – we can add a few more things that would FORCE honesty, truth and true dedication.

Too Late… The Damage is Already Done

No matter your opinion on the Federal Debt, you can’t argue that the damage and fallout from the bickering, arguing and mud-slinging had done irrefutable damage. It now does not matter if the debt ceiling is raised or if the Untied States government fails to pay its bills. In the eyes of the rest of the world, we may have done the damage that can only be described as idiotic and childish. Republicans may say this is just fiscally responsible – Democrats may say this is un-American and blame it back on the Tea Party. It really doesn’t matter.
In older times (minus the media tech cross-stream of information), this may have been a quite debate or argument and less a contentious issue – but today with the wide-spread and toxic. Public finance should be a center for debate and concern, but if it were your own finances, would you want the world looking on? At this point – judgments have been made, world politicians and economic intellectuals may still debate about the default or hesitation of default and the long term implications but the damage is done.
If you lost your job, had your house was foreclosed upon and your bank account was seized, you got kicked out of your house and you had no money to move, live or eat… what would you do? Of course this is happening to Americans across the country and there are no signs of things getting better. We love the ‘optimist’ mentality where the economy is getting better and the world will be coming up roses in just a few short months – years – decades… ah… good times. The USA is going from the most dominant and powerful country in the world to the most scoffed and laughed at among the world super-powers. Airing dirty laundry doesn’t clean the laundry – it just makes it smell a bit better for a short time.

It sounds like a good gig to us! The best of free healthcare, lots of vacation time, a generous salary and perks out the wazoo! Just become a politician. Sure, you might have to lie a little and you might have to kiss some babies and interns (on the cheek) and you might even have to walk through a stinking farm and tell the hillbillies you ‘understand’ their point of view while you shoot at farm raised turkeys – but it’s worth it. You get a group of devoted followers, subsidies and perks that you don’t have to declare. People want to take you out to dinner and show you off to their friends and you can live like a rockstar without the drugs and music (drinking heavily is acceptable – just don’t throw up on the constituents). Ah… the American Dream.
So now the politicians are taking a well deserved break after months of waiting to vote on the debt ceiling debate, bickering over the morning news programs and filth-slinging during the afternoon cable slander debates. It doesn’t matter that the FAA has shut down small airports over $64 million dollar a year budget renewal that costs the taxpayers five times that in a week for NOT doing it – It doesn’t matter that 78,000 workers lost their jobs in one of the worst economic downturns in recent history – It doesn’t matter that the world leaders are blaming the United States for an unnecessary and extended political debate that could lead to the collapse of world markets – It doesn’t matter… they need a vacation.
In the mean time, those that are still working are working harder and for less money than ever before and those that are not working can’t even get unemployment anymore. It doesn’t matter – the politicians need a vacation so they can go home – suck up the the locals and attend lavish parties to collect more money for their re-election campaigns form the wealthy they just helped make even wealthier through the debt debate. Wait a minute… who are they working for? Who pays their salary? Who gives them the prividge of representing us? That’s right – we do. WE DID… and we seem to be content enough to do nothing about it. Let’s see who wins in the next election and we’re not talking about the presidency…
